Scribe is a cloud-based documentation tool that turns workflows into shareable step-by-step guides automatically. The free plan captures the browser only; the paid Pro plan extends capture to desktop applications, but both route processing through Scribe’s own cloud. It’s quick, widely used, and a good fit for teams that are comfortable with their process screenshots being processed in the cloud.
When your processes are browser-based, your team is on Mac as well as Windows, and cloud storage of process screenshots is acceptable to your security policy. FlowShare is Windows-only and will not fit a mixed-platform team.
FlowShare records the Windows desktop entirely locally, so it can document ERP clients, legacy systems and other installed applications, including SAP process documentation, without uploading anything during capture. Scribe’s desktop capture, by contrast, runs through Scribe’s cloud, which is what makes FlowShare usable in air-gapped and regulated environments where Scribe isn’t an option.
FlowShare is on-premise documentation software: captured processes stay on the machine that recorded them, and publishing anywhere is a deliberate step you take. Cloud-first tools store captures in their own platform by default. For teams whose screenshots contain customer or patient data, this is usually the whole decision.
Not directly. There is no import path between the two, so existing guides stay in Scribe or get recreated by re-recording the process. Since re-recording takes roughly as long as performing the task, teams usually migrate the processes they still use and let the rest lapse.
